In Mali, there is a trend of beauty amongst the women. If a women in Mali does not follow the trend, they are considered second hand citizens. "What's this trend" you might ask. "What makes the trend so salacious that so many women are trying to accomplish. That trend is the attempt to embellish by making the skin pallid. They do this by bleaching the skin.
According to dermatologists, over the half of the women in Mali have done this. Just like constantly eating hamburgers isn't salubrious, bleaching the skin is considered a very bad choice. The process is painful and causes blemishes. As Malian doctor Ali Gindo says," They are just burning themselves, It's painful and it's awful."
Yet, why are the Malian women doing this? The answer, with a certain Malian singer. This certain Malian singer bleached her skin, creating a mesmeric effect. However, such results have not been achieved. Malian Men consider bleaching not very beautiful.
I have to agree with the Malian men. I don't really see how bleaching the skin is beautiful. Is being beautiful really worth the pain? I don't think so. It is weird how people think this is beautiful. I think that it would be good if the Malian women just stopped. Bleaching the skin is just creepy.

Woman of anchient Greece (Athens and Greece)
In Anchient Greece, woman were treated very poorly. They were seen as objects, things that were used only for making heirs. They had no freedoms whatsoever. They did not learn academics and could not participate in athletics. It got even worse when they got married. They could do next to nothing. All they did was watch the kids and teach the daughters how to become a good wife. She could only own things, not buy them. She couldn't even leave her own home. What a boring life, don't you think?
However, in Anchient Sparta, things were a little different. First of all, they could attend school and competed in atletics. They could inherit things, which was impossible for an Athenian girl to do. They could own property: as a result, one third of Sparta belonged to women. When they were married, they were much more emotionally stronger than their Athenian counterparts. They could even be the dominant member of the family. They were allowed to spread their intellect. In retrospect, it was definatly better to be a woman from Sparta then Athens.
However, one should wonder why the high and mighty Greeks, with their advancements in technology and culture, did not even bother to think that women were equals. I think it all depended on the enviroment. In Athens, a woman wouldn't even bother to try and to get into society. They were stuck inside their houses to be able to. They lived in a society where they had been brainwashed to only obey the husband, nothing more.
Because of this, woman were shown as objects, or as if they weren't there, in art. There aren't a lot of pieces of art from anchient Greece that had women as their subjects.

Symposium
Today, in humanities class, we had a symposium about the four cardinal virtues that are often associated with Socrates and Plato(Bravery, Knowledge, Patience, and Fairness). During that time, there was a point when we were asked,"what virtue would you add to the list." One of my fellow classmates mentioned commitment. That really struck a cord in me. He told everyone that you can't be virtuous without commitment. I thought about it. My classmate was right.
Commitment is a virtue to one who wishes to be virtuous. Without being commited to being virtous, you would stray to a path that is not so virtous. Commitment was needed to achieve all of the virtues that were on the list and were proposed to be in happiness. If you did not commit to be brave, you would be a coward. If you did not commit to be knowledgeable, you would be stupid. I personally think that my fellow classmate was right.

The perfect human
What is the perfect human? What is the perfect man? What can make women perfect? Is it even possible to have such things? I don't think that it is. That's because humans are flawed beings. Imperfection is the stain that stays with us. We are human so expect some flaws. Because we are flawed, that's what makes us human.
Beauty of Youth
There is a certain beauty that is contained within youth. Is it because youth inspires energy and life? What makes it so tantalizing to the mind and the eye? I think it is because it represents life. Life itself is a beautiful thing and youth is its epitome. The "S" emblem of superman is to youth is to life.

Simply Beautiful
The Human Mind
It is amazing what the human mind can do. It can create anything within its walls. It can conjure up the beautiful, bring the horrible, and show the wondrous. It is capable of both creative and destructive power. It has brought the world ideas of altruism and dreams of destruction. It is an
object to be feared, yet, it is an object of beauty.
Comets
Ever since the beginning of man, comets have been an object of beauty. It is amazing how a mixture of water and frozen gasses can create something so wonderous. They are the streaming lights of beauty in the night sky. Their beauty is rare, and when they do appear, everyone rushes to see them. It is no wonder how wonderous comets are
